We are searching for a talented, energetic individual with a passion for
protein engineering and therapeutics development. This individual will
work
as part of a small team of scientists and engineers in the development
of a
new class of targeted biopharmaceuticals.
The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in Biochemistry,
Chemical/Biochemical
Engineering, or a related discipline.
The candidate must be highly motivated, innovative, and capable of
critical
thinking and problem solving. He/she will have a demonstrated ability to
independently design, execute, troubleshoot and interpret experiments as
evidenced by publications.
Additional required skills and
characteristics
include: excellent communication skills, good organizational skills,
proficiency in scientific writing and making oral presentations.
Major Responsibilities:
- Design and implement experiments to identify and affinity mature
peptide antagonists
- Construction and screening of cell-based libraries using cell
sorting instrumentation
- Preliminary characterization of ligand properties using whole cell
assays
- Regular presentation of results internally
- Supervision of research technician/biochemist
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Protein biochemistry/molecular biology
- Proficiency with rDNA and plasmid library construction in bacteria
- Protein expression in bacteria; protein purification
- Flow cytometry and cell sorting
Experience with the following desired:
- Mammalian cell culture; transfection
- Surface plasmon resonance (BIAcore)
- Preparation of research proposals (to granting agencies)
